‘The Pig’ chain of hotels has been steadily growing since its inception in 2014 and is one of our favourite destinations to meet friends for a leisurely lunch and to spend time at their wonderful and charming establishments.
Not too far
The Pig at Bath Hotel is just one hour’s drive from Bath House and its extensive grounds are the perfect place to spend time before and after your lunch exploring their amazing Somerset kitchen garden complete with a smoke house. There is also a wild flower orchard, fruit cages, Victorian greenhouse, buzzy beehives, a wonderful conservatory restaurant, a fallow deer herd, characterful drawing rooms, an indulgent gin bar and you might even spot a couple of Kunekunes!
A Foodie’s Paradise
The Pig hotels are all culinary adventures, renowned for their farm-to-table philosophy, as each hotel sources ingredients from its own kitchen garden and local suppliers which results in a menu bursting with fresh, seasonal flavours. We strongly advise booking the restaurant in advance.
From the moment you step into the restaurant, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs in action, adding to the overall dining experience. Be sure to try the famous ‘Piggy Bits’ – a selection of small plates perfect for sharing.
Relax and Unwind
After your leisurely and delicious lunch, you can sit, relax and unwind or grab your binoculars and take an unhurried stroll through the beautiful grounds deer spotting. The hotel also offers rustic spa treatments or if you’re feeling more energetic, ask at reception for details of the local walk around the nearby lakes.
Conclusion
It may not be the cheapest lunch you’ll ever partake in, but the Pig in Bath is worth a visit if you have the time, and who knows, you might become lifelong fans (like us!) and make it your mission to have lots more adventures and visit every other Pig Hotel!
